How to automate routine Google Search Console checks with your Mac

You already check Google Search Console for errors, coverage drops, and indexing issues — probably more often than you need to, because you can't afford to miss something serious. Anchor Trails can run that check on your Mac every morning and send you a summary, so you only look when there's something worth seeing.

What this does

Your Mac logs into Search Console with your existing Google session, pulls the coverage report and any new errors, and sends you a one-paragraph summary on WhatsApp. If nothing changed, you get "all clear" and move on. If coverage dropped 5% or new errors appeared, the message tells you what and where.

What you need

- A Mac or Linux machine you can leave on (Anchor Trails runs on your device, not a cloud VM) - The free plan (connects one computer, runs three jobs a day) - Your Google account already logged into Chrome on that machine - About three minutes to connect the machine and queue the first job

How it works

Anchor Trails runs on your own device and uses the browser sessions you're already logged into — the same Chrome where you open Search Console manually. Sites see your real IP and your logged-in account, so there's no bot detection or API rate limits to fight. The free plan gives you three queued jobs per day; one of them becomes your daily Search Console check.

When you queue a job from your phone, it goes into your Mac's local work queue. The agent picks it up, opens Chrome (using your existing profile), navigates to Search Console, reads the coverage and error reports, and drafts a summary. Before it sends anything, it shows you the draft on WhatsApp and waits for your approval. You reply "yes" or edit it, and only then does it send.

Setup

1. Create a free Anchor Trails account at anchortrails.com 2. Download the installer for Mac or Linux and follow the pairing flow (scan a QR code, wait 30 seconds for the first heartbeat) 3. Queue the Search Console check job from your phone: open the Anchor Trails mobile view, tap "New job", describe what you want ("Check Search Console for my site daily and summarise any changes"), and submit 4. The job runs on your Mac. You'll see the draft summary on WhatsApp, approve it, and the job completes.

Set it to recur daily, and you're done. Every morning the agent runs the check and sends you the summary — or tells you there's nothing new.

What Anchor Trails actually does

This works because Anchor Trails is a local-first desktop agent that runs on your Mac or Linux machine. It's not a cloud service that calls APIs on your behalf — it literally opens your browser, navigates like you would, and reads what's on the screen. Your subscriptions (Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude through their apps) provide the reasoning; Anchor Trails provides the execution, the queue, and the approval gate.

The free plan connects one machine. Paid plans let you connect more machines, queue more jobs per day, and run longer jobs — but the daily Search Console check fits comfortably in the free tier.
